Arabic vocabulary
How to say “drive away” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
كَمَا تذاد الغريبة من الْإِبِل عَن الْحَوْض
Just as the stray camel is driven away from the water trough.
تُذَادُ — is driven away. This is the passive of the verb: the camel is driven, not the driver, with the doer left unnamed. Arabic signals the passive by reshaping the verb's internal vowels rather than by adding a 'is being' helper.
