How to say “stray” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
كَمَا تذاد الغريبة من الْإِبِل عَن الْحَوْض
Just as the stray camel is driven away from the water trough.
الغَرِيبَةُ — the stray. This is the subject of the passive verb, the thing being driven away, so it holds the subject form. The 'the' presents it as a defined example, the stray one, and the feminine ending agrees with the camel it describes.
