And the first to hear it will be a man repairing the water basin for his camels, and he will fall unconscious along with the people,
حَوْضَ — the water basin. This is the object of 'repairs', in the accusative, heading a possessive — 'the trough / watering-basin OF his camels'. So it both is what he mends and owns the noun to come.

الحَوْضِ — the water trough. This noun is the place driven away from, kept in the governed form by the preceding preposition. The 'the' makes it the specific known watering place.
