Arabic vocabulary
How to say “effort” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَأَخَذَنِي فَغَطَّنِي الثَّانِيَةَ حَتَّى بَلَغَ مِنِّي الْجُهْدُ،
So he seized me, and the second one covered me until I became exhausted.
الْجُهْدُ — the effort. This noun carries the 'the' marker and is the subject the earlier 'reached' verb was waiting for, its final 'u' vowel marking that role. The repeated 'until my exertion reached its limit' lands its actor here again.
