Arabic vocabulary
How to say “famous” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَها هُوَ الرَحَّالَةُ الأَنْدَلُسِيُّ الشَّهِيرُ مُحَمَّدٌ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنُ جُبَيْرٍ
And here is the famous Andalusian traveler Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Jubayr.
الشَّهِيرُ — the famous. An adjective 'famous' modifying the traveler, the third in a stacked string of descriptions. It matches its noun in definiteness, gender, and the subject-style case. Arabic piles adjectives after the noun, each agreeing, rather than before it as in English.
