How to say “fleeting” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَإِنَّ الْمَالَ ظِلٌّ زَائِلٌ وَأَمْرٌ حَائِلٌ،
For wealth is a fleeting shadow and a thing that obstructs.
زَائِلٌ — fleeting. A describing word built from a verb (an '-ing' style participle) attached to 'shadow', narrowing it to a fleeting one. As an Arabic adjective it follows its noun and copies the noun's ending, so it trails 'shadow' and shares its subject-form shape.
