وهذا أمر لم يحضره إلا أنا وصفوان فوالله لأعلم ما أتاك به إلا الله،
And this is a matter witnessed only by me and Safwan, and by Allah, I know that it was none but Allah who brought it to you,
أَمْرٌ — matter. amr means 'matter, affair'; the '-un' ending marks it indefinite — the subject 'a matter'.

And if you carry it upon the command of Allah, it becomes good.
أَمْرِ — command. 'amr' = 'command'; first half of an 'of' phrase that joins the next word: 'the command of...'.

And if you leave the matter to it, it becomes corrupt.
الأَمْرَ — the matter. 'al-' = 'the'; 'amr' = 'matter, affair'. The '-a' ending marks it as the object of the verb.

ٱلْأُمُورِ — the matters. Genitive after 'min' — 'the matters, affairs'; broken plural.

الأُمُورِ — matters. A plural noun in the genitive after 'in', made definite by 'al-'. It awaits the adjective that pins down which kind of matters.

وَالأُمُورِ — and matters. 'And' repeating 'matters' to open the second sphere, again definite and genitive. Restating the noun rather than just adding an adjective gives each domain its own footing.

He manages the affairs of His servants,
أَمْرَ — the affairs. 'Affair / command', direct object of 'manages', accusative ('-a'), and first term of an 'of' pairing — 'the affair of His servants'. It owns the noun that follows.

أَمْرِهِ — His command. 'Command / order' with '-hi' (His) attached, genitive after 'in'. The first half of the pairing.

Then, the matter being inferred and returned to is mentioned by His saying, 'Indeed, He is Able to bring him back.'
الأَمْرَ — the matter. This noun 'the matter/affair' is the direct object of 'mentioned', carrying the object ending, made definite by 'the'. It is described by the participles that follow; the object ending marks it as what was mentioned.

The third matter is what is contained in His saying: 'A revelation from the Lord of the worlds.'
الأَمْرُ — the matter. The noun 'matter/affair' with 'the', the subject of the sentence, marked by the subject ending. The ending assigns it the topic role; the ordinal that follows specifies which matter.

But the more he engages in desires, the murkier his heart becomes, and things become confused for him.
الأَمْرُ — the things. The thing that becomes confused, 'the matter', filling the verb's subject slot and so carrying the subject ending. Its 'the' makes it the definite affair already in view.

ٱلْأَمْرِ — the matter. The al- makes this definite, 'the matter'. As the noun governed by the preposition before it, it takes the -i ending Arabic gives objects of a preposition.

And whoever does not stand by God's command and prohibition is not among the pious.
أَمْرِ — command. A noun 'command' heading an 'of' chain; it drops its own 'the' and demands the following name to complete 'command of...'. It carries the after-preposition ending from the 'at' before it. It heads the phrase whose owner comes next.

Indeed, something has happened.
أَمْرٌ — something. An indefinite noun 'a matter/something' that is the delayed doer of 'happened'; its plain subject ending and indefinite tanwin mark it as an unspecified event newly announced. It is what the dummy 'it' earlier stood in for.

But he may obey His command, disobey Him, and yet worship Him.
أَمْرَهُ — His command. A noun in the object accusative carrying the owner ending '-hu' (His): His command. The case marks it as the object obeyed, and the suffix names whose command it is.

And mentioning the Hereafter is a matter outside of natural disposition, and it comes from outside.
أَمْرٌ — a matter. An indefinite noun working as the predicate, the slot that says what the subject IS: 'a matter'. There is no spoken 'is' in Arabic; the bare noun next to the subject does the linking by itself, so 'the mention [is] a matter'.

For wealth is a fleeting shadow and a thing that obstructs.
وَأَمْرٌ — and a thing. Front wa- is the joiner 'and', adding a second comment about the wealth. The noun it carries is a further predicate of the same inna statement, so the sentence reads 'wealth is a shadow... and a thing...', two predicates linked by wa-.

He said, "And indeed, there is no way for us to it in this matter."
الْأَمْرَ — the matter. A definite noun (it carries 'the'); its object-style ending was forced on it by the emphasis-particle two words back, which is why it is not in its plain dictionary shape. It is the thing the whole denial is about.

Because the matter belongs to God, and He has permitted his destruction.
الْأَمْرَ — the matter. A definite noun carrying 'the'; its object-style ending is imposed by the 'because' particle just before it. It is the topic the reason-clause makes a claim about.

It was said that then an order concerning him was given, and he was dragged on his face until he was thrown into the fire.
أُمر — an order. This is a passive-shaped past verb, 'it was commanded', with the commander left unnamed. The passive presents the order as simply issued, focusing on the act rather than who gave it, before the dragging.

But you did it so that he would be called generous; so it was said. Then an order was issued about him; he was dragged on his face and then thrown into the fire.
أمرٌ — an order. An indefinite noun (no al- 'the') meaning 'a command/order'. Read with the surrounding passive sense, it is the order that was given concerning the man - 'an order [was issued]'. Its indefinite form presents the command as a single unspecified decree rather than a known one.
