فَجَعَلْتُ مِنَ الْاِسْتِعْدَادِ لِلِّقَائِهِمْ قِطَعَاتِ الْوَرَقِ، وَبُرِّيِ الْأَقْلَامِ، وَأَحْزِمَةَ الدَّفَاتِرِ؛
So I made from the preparation for meeting them readying sheets of paper, sharpening the pens, and bundling the notebooks;
لِلِّقَائِهِمْ — for meeting them. The preposition li- ('for') prefixed to a definite action noun carrying -hum ('their'). Li- marks the meeting as the purpose the preparation serves, the action noun packages 'meeting' as a thing, and -hum ties it to the visitors. The whole bundle sits in the genitive after li-.
