How to say “for the thief” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فلم يبق لِلِّصِّ إلا البيت الثالث، فهو الذي يَشُنُّ عليه الغارة
So the thief is left with only the third house, which he launches an attack on.
لِلِّصِّ — for the thief. 'Li-' (for/to) fused with 'the thief', governing the genitive — 'there remained for the thief…'. This 'li-' marks the one left holding something, the possessor in a statement of what is left.
