How to say “gatherings” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
بَدَأَتْ مَجَالِسُ ابْنِ الْجَوْزِيِّ تَسْتَقْطِبُ النَّاسَ،
Ibn al-Jawzi's gatherings began to attract people.
مَجَالِسُ — gatherings. A broken plural: rather than tacking an ending on, the singular's vowels are recast to mark plurality, which is why the word looks reshaped inside. It is the doer of the 'began' verb, and as a non-human plural it pairs with that feminine-singular verb form.
