Arabic vocabulary
How to say “gentle” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَقَالَ أَبُ بَكْرٍ ـ وَكَانَ رَجُلًا رَقِيقًا ـ يَا عُمَرُ صَلِّ بِالنَّاسِ
Abu Bakr, who was a gentle man, said, "O Umar, lead the people in prayer."
رَقِيقًا — gentle. A descriptive word, 'gentle/tender', agreeing with 'a man' before it in case and indefiniteness; the agreement ties it to exactly that noun, adding the quality the verb 'was' attributes to him.
