Arabic vocabulary
How to say “gloating” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَدُرِكَ الشَّقَاءُ وَسُوءُ الْقَضَاءِ وَشَمَاتَةُ الْأَعْدَاءِ
And being overtaken by misery, an adverse decree, and the gloating of enemies.
وَشَمَاتَةُ — and gloating. Two pieces: wa- ('and') adds another item to the list, and the noun heads a possessive pairing with the next word ('gloating of the enemies'). As the first term it stays the head and takes definiteness from the owner that follows.
