Arabic vocabulary
How to say “God” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، مَا نَقُولُ
They said, "O Messenger of God, what should we say?"
اللَّهِ — God. Second half of the 'Messenger of God' possessive pair, so this name takes the 'of'-style ending '-i' that the owned-by relationship requires. It is what makes 'Messenger' definite without needing its own 'the'. The pairing is built purely by placing the two nouns together.
