How to say “greatness” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَيَا عُظْمَ الْمُصِيبَةِ عِنْدَمَا يَتَبَيَّنُ بَوَارِقَ أَمَانِيهِ خُلَّبًا،
And how great is the calamity when the dazzling flashes of his hopes become clear and he is deceived.
عُظْمَ — greatness of. A noun heading a possessive pair, 'the greatness OF the calamity', and the thing exclaimed over in the 'how great the X!' pattern. As the front member it binds to the following noun with no word for 'of', and leans on it for its definiteness.
