And the children, how much hardship the father endures for the sake of the young; but when they grow up, they disobey, and disobedience is among the grave sins,
تَرَقَّوْا — they grow up. A past-tense verb on a reflexive pattern meaning 'they rose / climbed up in age', with the plural 'they' subject carried in the ending. The verb shape itself conveys a gradual self-directed rising, here the children growing up, with no separate pronoun word.
