Arabic vocabulary
How to say “hasten” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَمَنْ أَبَطْأَ بِهِ عَمَلُهُ لَمْ يُسْرِعْ بِهِ نَسَبُهُ
And whoever is slowed by his deeds will not be hastened forward by his lineage.
يُسْرِعْ — he hasten. Though present in shape, this verb is pulled into the past and clipped at the end (notice it does not close on -u) by the negating word before it. Its subject, 'his lineage,' comes afterward; the sense is that ancestry will not speed up the one his deeds slowed.
