Arabic vocabulary
How to say “lineage” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَمَنْ أَبَطْأَ بِهِ عَمَلُهُ لَمْ يُسْرِعْ بِهِ نَسَبُهُ
And whoever is slowed by his deeds will not be hastened forward by his lineage.
نَسَبُهُ — his lineage. The -u marks this as the doer that fails to act: one's lineage. Set against 'his deeds' earlier, the two subjects frame the lesson — deeds decide rank, ancestry cannot make up the difference.
