فلم ينطق حملًا لنفسه على التوكل بزعمه،
Thus, he did not speak, believing that remaining silent was trusting in God, according to his claim.
لِنَفْسِهِ — for his self. The attached particle governs the following noun into the prepositional form, and that noun carries an attached 'his', so the word means 'for himself'. It marks the one on whom he laid the burden of silence, pointing back to the man himself.

And this man's silence in such a situation is aiding his own harm, which is not permissible.
نَفْسِهِ — his self. This noun carries an attached 'his' and is held in the governed form by the preceding 'against'. The fused 'his' points back to the silent man, marking whom the harm falls on.
