Arabic vocabulary
How to say “his dependents” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَاحْتَمَلَ بِثِقْلِهِ وَعِيَالِهِ فَتَحَوَّلَ عَنْهُمْ
And he bore it, with its weight and his dependents, then he turned away from them.
وَعِيَالِهِ — and his dependents. A coordinating wa- ('and') on a noun carrying -hi 'his', still in the genitive under the same bi- as the word before. The wa- adds the dependents to the load he carried; the 'his' marks them as his.
