How to say “his effort” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
لِأَنَّهُ إِنْ كَانَ قَارِئًا بِنَفْسِهِ فَبِجَهْدِهِ أَنْ يَتَهَجَّى الأَسْمَاءَ وَالمُتُونَ
Because if he is reading by his own self, then by his effort that he spell out the names and the texts.
فَبِجَهْدِهِ — then by his effort. Three pieces stacked: the connector fa- giving the 'then' that answers the 'if', the prefix bi- 'by/with' marking means, and -hi 'his' on a noun for effort. So 'then by his effort', the fa- delivering the apodosis and bi- naming how the spelling-out happens.
