Have you not seen how a sick person refrains from delicious food fearing an increase in illness, and drinks bitter medicine hoping for a cure?
رَجَاءَ — hoping for. A noun of cause in the bare object form marking motive: hoping, i.e. out of hope. Like the earlier 'out of fear', this accusative ending states the reason for drinking, a slot English fills with a phrase.
From: Paradise Over Pleasure →
Similarly, the wise person refrains from the pleasures of sins fearing the torment of the Hereafter, and bears the bitterness of obedience hoping for the reward of Allah Almighty.
رَجَاءً — hoping for. A noun of cause in the bare object form marking motive: out of hope. The accusative ending states why he endures, mirroring the sick person's hope for a cure.
