Arabic vocabulary
How to say “humankind” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَعَرَضَ لَهُ فِي طَرِيقِهِ شَيْطَانٌ مِنْ شَيَاطِينِ الْإِنْسِ،
A devil from among the devils of humankind appeared to him on his way.
الْإِنْسِ — humankind. This definite noun completes the 'of' pairing with 'devils' before it: 'the devils of humankind', i.e. human tempters rather than unseen ones. As the owned half it takes the genitive ending, its al- marking the class of people. The bare juxtaposition carries the 'of'.
