وَقَالَ الثَّالِثُ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي اسْتَأْجَرْتُ أُجَرَّاءَ فَأَعْطَيْتُهُمْ أَجْرَهُمْ،
And the third said, "O Allah, indeed I hired laborers and gave them their wages."
اسْتَأْجَرْتُ — I hired. A past-tense verb with the 'I' subject in its '-tu' ending; its form carries a 'seek/request' sense baked into the pattern, here 'I hired'. Reported as a completed deed, it states the action the man offers as evidence of his integrity.
