How to say “in what” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
بَلْ لَوْ فَكَّرْتُمْ فِيمَا تُبْصِرُونَ وَمَا لَا تُبْصِرُونَ لَدَلَّكُمْ ذَلِكَ عَلَى أَنَّ الْقُرْآنَ حَقٌّ
But if you considered what you see and what you do not see, that would guide you to the Quran's truth.
فِيمَا — what you see. A compound 'in what', a preposition 'in' fused with a relative 'what', opening 'on what you see'. The single word both governs and introduces the thing reflected upon.
From: Proofs of Scripture →فَأَقَامَ سُبْحَانَهُ الْبُرْهَانَ الْقَاطِعَ عَلَى صِدْقِ رَسُولِهِ وَأَنَّهُ لَمْ يَتَقَوَّلْ عَلَيْهِ فِيمَا قَالَهُ،
He, glorified be He, has established the definitive proof of the truthfulness of His Messenger and that he did not fabricate anything against Him in what he said.
فِيمَا — in what. This couples the preposition 'in' with the relative ma, forming 'in what', and opens a clause 'in what he said'. It links the not-fabricating to the content of his speech, governing the verb-clause that follows.
