Arabic vocabulary
How to say “kindle” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
أن أول ثلاثة تسجر بهم جهنم
"The first three for whom Hell will be kindled are:
تُسَعَّرُ — will be kindled. A passive verb — the inner vowels make it 'is stoked / set ablaze', with no kindler named, the fire being acted upon. Arabic marks this passive by the vowel pattern inside the word rather than by a helper verb, and the shape here is the intensive, a thoroughly stoked blaze.
