How to say “lacking” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
مصرا على الاكتساب بالشعر رقيق الدين،
Insistent on acquiring gains through poetry, lacking in religious commitment,
رَقِيقَ — lacking. Another state-describing accusative — 'thin [in something]' — heading a tight pairing 'thin OF religion'. Arabic says 'deficient in X' by placing this adjective right before the noun, which then takes the genitive. The accusative marks it as describing his condition.
