How to say “leaves” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فضجت مما لجت الجدر، فرجعت على الورق الشكر،
So the walls resounded with what the torrents brought, and thanks returned on the leaves,
الوَرَقِ — the leaves. In the genitive because 'on' governs it, this noun names the place the thanks returned to. The 'the' makes it the specific leaves, the foliage on which gratitude is pictured settling.
