Arabic vocabulary
How to say “meet” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَأَنَّهَا لَا تَقْضِي حَاجَتَهَا إِلَّا وَظَهْرَيَّ مَطِيَّةٍ لَهَا،
and that she does not meet her needs except by using my back as her mount.
تَقْضِي — she meets. This is a present-shape verb with the 'she' subject built into it, denied by the 'not' before it. The present form marks an ongoing inability: she cannot, as a standing fact, meet her own needs. It then leans on the 'except' phrase to name the sole way she manages.
