Arabic vocabulary
How to say “mount” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَأَنَّهَا لَا تَقْضِي حَاجَتَهَا إِلَّا وَظَهْرَيَّ مَطِيَّةٍ لَهَا،
and that she does not meet her needs except by using my back as her mount.
مَطِيَّةٍ — mount. This noun, 'a mount / riding-beast', has no al- and stands as what the speaker's back serves as for the mother. It is used figuratively: his body becomes her means of getting about. The indefiniteness presents it as a role his back plays, not a literal animal.
