Arabic vocabulary
حِفْظُ is how you say “memorization” in Arabic. Hear it pronounced and see it used in a real example sentence from classical texts below.
وَقَدَرٍ هَمُّهُمْ، وَحِفْظُهُمْ، وَعِبَادَاتُهُمْ، وَغَرَائِبُ عُلُومِهِمْ،
the extent of their concern, their memorization, their acts of worship, and the remarkable aspects of their sciences,
وَحِفْظُهُمْ — their memorization. Here wa- coordinates another item, a noun with -hum ('their') attached, onto the list of observed qualities. The conjunction is simply adding to the parallel string. The attached possessor keeps tying each quality back to the same group of people.
