How to say “misguidance” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَإِنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ مَا غَوَّايَتُهُمْ بِالْحَدِيثِ إِلَّا كَغَوَّايَةِ الْمُصَارِعِ وَالسَّاعِيِ وَلاَعِبِ الْحَمَّامِ،
For indeed these people, their misguidance by hadith is no more than the misguidance of the wrestler, the runner, and the pigeon-player.
كَغَوَّايَةِ — like misguidance. The prefix ka- 'like' heads the comparison and then binds to the following noun in a possessive chain, 'like the misguidance of...'. Arabic builds 'X of Y' by placing the nouns side by side with no 'of' word, and ka- puts the noun after it in the 'of'-style ending.
