How to say “pigeons” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَإِنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ مَا غَوَّايَتُهُمْ بِالْحَدِيثِ إِلَّا كَغَوَّايَةِ الْمُصَارِعِ وَالسَّاعِيِ وَلاَعِبِ الْحَمَّامِ،
For indeed these people, their misguidance by hadith is no more than the misguidance of the wrestler, the runner, and the pigeon-player.
الْحَمَّامِ — the pigeons. A definite noun with al- ('the pigeons'), completing the chain begun by 'player': 'the pigeon-player'. As the owner term it takes the 'of'-style (genitive) ending, naming what the player plays with, the last of the three idle figures listed.
