Arabic vocabulary
How to say “my saying” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَقَوْلِيُ لَهُ غَيَّرَ عَتَبَةَ بَابِهِ
And when I told him, he changed the threshold of his door.
وَقَوْلِيُ — and my saying. This is a verbal noun (an action named as a thing) with -i, the 'my' possessor, fused to its end, so one word means 'my saying', and the 'and' connector (wa-) is on its front. It works as the subject of the clause, an action packaged as a noun. The wa- links it to the surrounding narrative.
