Arabic vocabulary
اِبْنِي is how you say “my son” in Arabic. Hear it pronounced and see it used in a real example sentence from classical texts below.
فَقَالَتِ اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلِ ابْنِي مِثْلَهُ فَتَرَكَ ثَدْيَهَا،
She said, "O Allah, make my son like him." Then he left her breast,
إِبْنَيَّ — my son. The thing she asks be made a certain way -- her son -- object of 'make', with the 'my' suffix attached. The two-thing verb then needs the 'like him' phrase to complete what she wants the son made into.
