How to say “my son” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
إِذْ مَرَّ بِاِمْرَأَةٍ تَصِيحُ بِابْنِهَا يَا وَلَدِي
When he passed by a woman who was crying out for her son, she cried, "O my son!"
وَلَدِي — my son. A noun 'son' with a tail pronoun 'my' welded on, used here as the one being called, right after the calling particle. So it is the target of the direct address, 'O my son'. The attached 'my' rides as an ending, packing the possessor into the same word.
