Arabic vocabulary
How to say “opened” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَعِنْدَ ذَلِكَ اِنْفَتَحَتْ أَعْيُنُهُمَا وَعَلِمَا أَنَّهُمَا عُرْيَانَانِ،
At that moment their eyes opened, and they realized they were naked.
اِنْفَتَحَتْ — they opened. A past verb in the self-action pattern ('came open by itself'), agreeing as feminine-singular with its subject 'eyes' which Arabic treats as a feminine unit here. It comes before its subject, so it carries the singular agreement; the pattern stresses the eyes opening of their own accord.
