Arabic vocabulary
How to say “perhaps” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَمَا عَسَى أَنْ يَبْلُغَنِي مِنْ هَذَا اللَّبَنِ،
And perhaps some of this milk will reach me.
عَسَى — perhaps. This is the verb-like particle 'perhaps/it may be', expressing hope or expectation; it characteristically takes a 'that' clause after it. Here it sets up 'perhaps that some milk reaches me'. Arabic uses this fixed word to mark something hoped-for but uncertain.
