Arabic vocabulary
How to say “press” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَأَخَذَنِي فَغَطَّنِي الثَّالِثَةَ حَتَّى بَلَغَ مِنِّي الْجُهْدُ
So he seized me and pressed me a third time until I reached exhaustion.
فَغَطَّنِي — and pressed me. The fa- continues the chain, and the verb's doubled-consonant pattern intensifies the action; 'me' is attached as the object. The strengthened shape conveys the force of the pressing.
