وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالَى عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ
Abu Hurairah reported that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
النَّبِيَّ — the Prophet. A definite noun, 'the Prophet', the subject of the 'that...' clause, carrying the attached 'the' and the ending the particle forces. It names who is reported to have spoken.
From: Empty Fasting, Empty Prayer →وَكَانَ يضْحك النَّبِي
And he used to make the Prophet laugh.
النَّبِيَّ — the Prophet. This noun carries 'the' and its ending marks it as the object of the verb, the one made to laugh. The accusative ending, not word order, is what shows the Prophet here as the receiver of the action rather than the doer.
From: Sincerity and Hypocrisy →فَقَالَ رجل لَعنه الله مَا أَكثر مَا يُؤْتِي بِهِ إِلَى النَّبِي
So a man said, 'May Allah curse him; how often he is brought to the Prophet!'
النَّبِيِّ — the Prophet. This name carries 'the' on its title and sits in the genitive because the preposition before it governs it. It names the Prophet as the one the man is brought to, completing the direction phrase.
