How to say “father” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالَى عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ
Abu Hurairah reported that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
أَبِي — Abu. The 'father of' element opening a teknonym, grammatically incomplete until joined to the name after it; the two form one by-name. The earlier 'from' has set its governed ending.
From: Empty Fasting, Empty Prayer →وأخرج منهاجًا وأبًا جعله أقواتا،
And He brought forth pasture and herbage, making it sustenance,
وَأَبًّا — and herbage. The 'and' joins a second object, keeping it in the same accusative as the first, since coordination carries the case along. So this noun stands grammatically level with the pasture as the second thing God brought forth from the land.
