Arabic vocabulary
How to say “rather” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
بَلَّ وَإِبْلِيسُ مُعْتَرِفٌ بِهَذِهِ الْحَقِيقَةِ وَأَهْلُ النَّارِ
Rather, Iblis and the people of the Fire acknowledge this reality.
بَلَّ — rather. A particle that corrects or overrides what came before, like 'rather' or 'on the contrary'. Its job is to cancel a prior assumption and replace it with the stronger claim that follows, redirecting the argument.
