Arabic vocabulary
How to say “recite” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَقَالَ فَإِذَا جَاءَ زَوْجُكِ فَإِقْرَئِي عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامَ
He said, "When your husband comes, recite the greeting of peace over him."
فاقرئي — recite. This is a command verb addressed to a woman: its feminine ending marks the female addressee, and the 'so/then' connector (fa-) on its front ties it as the response to the 'when he comes' condition. So one word carries the result-link and the gendered order. Arabic marks the addressee's gender right in the command form.
