وَأكْثر فِي الْإِنْفَاق فَمَا قلل حَتَّى تخَلّل بالعبا
He spent abundantly without lessening until he wore coarse cloth.
قَلَّلَ — he lessened. A past-tense doubled (form II) verb 'reduced / gave little', subject 'he' inside — what he did not do. He never stinted.
