وَأكْثر فِي الْإِنْفَاق فَمَا قلل حَتَّى تخَلّل بالعبا
He spent abundantly without lessening until he wore coarse cloth.
تَخَلَّلَ — he wore. A past-tense reflexive-shape (form V) verb 'clothed himself / patched himself in', subject 'he' inside — until he was reduced to coarse cloth. The form marks doing the act to oneself.
