Arabic vocabulary
How to say “return” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
كان والله إذا أقبل كأنه رجع من دفن حميمه،
By Allah, when he approached, it was as if he were returning from burying a loved one.
رَاجِعٌ — returning. This is an active participle used as a predicate, describing him as 'returning', a doer-of-the-action noun rather than a finite verb. Arabic states such a 'he is X-ing' simply by naming the participle, with no separate 'is'.
