How to say “return” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
قُلْتُ الآنَ يَرُدُّ عَلَيَّ الْجَمَلَ،
I said, 'Now he returns the camel to me.'
يَرُدُّ — he returns. This is a present-shape verb 'he returns/gives back' with the doer ('he') inside it, describing an expected action. Its present form gives the sense of something about to happen now.
From: Marriage and Financial Justice →أَيُّ يَرُدُّكَ الشَّيْطَانُ إِلَى أَنفُسِكَ
Or will Satan turn you back to your self?
يَرُدُّكَ — turns you back. A present-tense verb, 'turns back', with its 'he' subject inside and a 'you' object fused on the end. The subject, Satan, is named just after. The object 'you' rides inside the verb, so one word holds the act and the person turned back.
