Arabic vocabulary
How to say “running” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَلَكِنَّهُ إِذَا أَحَسَّ بِهِ اِلتَفَتَ إِلَيْهِ فَيَضْعُفُ سَعْيُهُ،
But when he senses him, he turns toward him, and his running weakens.
سَعْيُهُ — his running. This noun carries -hu ('his') and is the subject of the verb before it, so it takes the plain subject ending: 'his running'. The attached possessor ties the running to the gazelle. Being the doer of 'weakens', it is what slackens once the gazelle looks back.
