Arabic vocabulary
How to say “he weakens” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَلَكِنَّهُ إِذَا أَحَسَّ بِهِ اِلتَفَتَ إِلَيْهِ فَيَضْعُفُ سَعْيُهُ،
But when he senses him, he turns toward him, and his running weakens.
فَيَضْعُفُ — so he weakens. The fa- here is the result marker, 'and so', drawing the consequence of the turning: the running weakens. The verb it carries is a present-tense 'it weakens', with its subject named next. So the connector links the gazelle's fatal glance to its slowing down.
