Arabic vocabulary
How to say “seek refuge” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وأعوذ بالله أن أكون قد ضيعت الزمان في نعت بطلة الطلبة ،
And I seek refuge in God from having wasted time in praising a useless student,
وَأَعُوذُ — and I seek refuge. This is the bound wa- 'and' plus a present-tense verb, 'and I seek refuge', with the first-person 'I' built into its shape. The wa- links the clause on, and the doer is carried inside the verb rather than as a separate 'I'.
