Arabic vocabulary
How to say “seeking” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ كُنْتُ فَعَلْتُ ذَلِكَ إِبْتِغَاءَ وَجْهِكَ
O Allah, if I have done that seeking Your face.
إِبْتِغَاءَ — seeking. A verbal noun, an action recast as a noun, whose ending marks it as expressing purpose, 'for the sake of seeking'. It heads a possessive pairing with the next word, so it shows why the deed was done; Arabic uses this noun-of-purpose where English would say 'seeking' or 'in order to seek'.
